WOOLWORTHS CAMBRIDGE

Lanta delivered a comprehensive full refurbishment, exterior extension, and complete rebrand of the Woolworths Cambridge supermarket – one of the most logistically demanding project types in commercial construction. The works spanned a major exterior expansion and a complete interior overhaul. All of this was carried out within a live trading environment, with the store remaining operational throughout.

Externally, Lanta constructed a new Online Room. It features a reinforced concrete floor slab, precast concrete wall panels, and Kingspan roof panels. We also added a new structural steel Direct to Boot canopy over the existing carpark. New fibre cement facade cladding, automatic sliding doors, line marking, and inground bollards completed the exterior works.

Internally, the full retail and back-of-house areas were stripped and refitted. This included revised floor finishes, lighting, and suspended ceilings, plus all associated concrete trenching and services work.

The project required coordinating structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and fit-out trades simultaneously – all within a live supermarket. Its breadth and complexity is a direct testament to Lanta’s programme management capability. It demonstrates our ability to deliver large-format construction on time and to a high standard, without disrupting operations.
